As many of you know, I’m trading my beach life for a life in the country. While exploring the area where I hope to reside in Sebastopol, I came across some extraordinary community art.
My favorite piece!
In front of Copperfield’s Books

A turn down a random street, Florence Avenue, turned into a discovery of houses adorned with recycled materials turned into art. Fascinated, I parked my car and walked for blocks past life-size sculptures of cows, crows, baseball players, musicians, and more. The neighborhood artist, Patrick Amiot, uses his creative mind to recycle junk into whimsical sculptures, and then his wife, Brigitte Laurent, artistically paints them. Patrick’s philosophy is that every object has a spirit and his art is a way of telling their story.

Patrick’s art decorates cow pastures, storefronts, goat sanctuaries, and more. His recycled expressions appear out of nowhere and always make me smile or giggle.
This artist also uses his talents to raise money for community schools and plans to open a sculpture garden in the future.

If you are in the area, do not miss Florence Avenue! It’s a glimmer of hope and a welcome respite from the sometimes dismal state of the world. Thank you, Patrick, for the cheer you bring to us all!
I hope to have one of his artworks in my new house someday!
